Free Foreclosures – What Do You Get For Free?

There are many free foreclosure database and listing sites on the internet. Just type in “free foreclosures” and you’ll be shown many sites that have free listings of bank owned homes, government foreclosures and REO properties where you can choose from single family homes, town houses, duplexes or condos.

I thought I’d check some of the sites out myself to see how much information you can get for free from these sites. I chose 3 random sites from the top 10 listing in Google for the term – free foreclosures.

In the first of the free sites I chose, I typed Florida in the state section, then entered Orlando in the city section and was taken to a page that had only one home listed, no photo of the home was provided and no description of the home was given (bed/bath etc) however, the address, price and agent name were. I thought this might be a one-off so I clicked on another city in Florida, Boca Raton. This gave a better result in that there were 5 homes listed for that city but only a photo of the first one was given.

I then tried another site listed under free foreclosures, to see if it was any better. I selected Florida again to see what result this site would come up with. I picked Orange County and it came up with a good listing of properties, with a “details” text box I clicked on that took me to some good basic details of the property like number of bedrooms and bathrooms and the price, but if I wanted to see a photo or find details of the year it was built, or the total sq ft of the property I had to join a membership program, though they did offer a free 7-day trial you could try out.

OK, I thought I would try just one more of the “free foreclosures” sites. This site also offered a free 7-day trial, at a reasonable cost, but I wanted to see what the free search would give me as far as information/photo of the property. Sticking to Florida, Orange County again, I clicked the search box and was taken to a listing that had no images or address details unless you went for the free trial, but it did give you the bed/bath details and property type eg condo/single family home and the price.

So all in all, “free foreclosures” sites don’t necessarily give you all the details you may be after on their foreclosure lists, though you get some info with the odd photo thrown in.  Many of  these sites do give you the option of a free 7-day trial, which gives you access to all the facts you need to know in order to choose a suitable property.

When you think about it, 7 days is a decent amount of time to research the area you’re looking in so If you want to test drive the foreclosure listing site we recommend, go here now to try it out FREE for 7 days.
